The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced the appointment of Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi to a 15-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) tasked with staging a world-class youth athletics championship in Nigeria.

Atoyebi, currently serving as Technical Assistant to the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), brings nearly two decades of media experience. Her professional background includes editorial roles at The Sun Newspaper, Naij.com, and Premium Times. She has also served in public office as Special Assistant to the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory.

A passionate advocate for youth sports development, Atoyebi responded to her appointment with enthusiasm, saying:
“Sports is my passion. At Fame Foundation, I’ve used it as a tool to combat social vices and uplift communities. This appointment is a call to service, and I’m fully committed to ensuring Nigeria delivers one of the best-organised age-grade athletics championships on the continent.”

She expressed gratitude to the NSC for the opportunity, pledging to bring dedication and effective collaboration to the committee’s work.
“I am deeply honoured by the trust the NSC leadership has placed in me. I assure them of my unwavering commitment to teamwork, effectiveness, and excellence as we prepare for the upcoming tournament,” she added.

The LOC will be chaired by Hon. Bukola Olopade, with Hon. Wasiu Isiaka serving as Vice Chairman. Other committee members include respected professionals such as Mr. Osaze Ubueze, Ms. Rosa Collins, Mr. Gadzama Tafiga, Ms. Chichi Nwoko, and Mr. Shagaya Abdulmumeen, who will serve as Secretary.

Set to take place in Abeokuta, the championship will welcome over 500 athletes from 53 African countries. With the support of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and newly upgraded sports infrastructure, Nigeria is poised to host one of the most memorable editions of the tournament.
