BREAKING: JAMB To Reschedule UTME For 379,997 Candidates Affected By Technical Glitches

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 379,997 candidates will retake the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) following technical disruptions during the exam in Lagos and the South East.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this during a press briefing held Wednesday in Abuja. He revealed that 206,610 candidates across 65 centres in Lagos were affected, along with 173,387 candidates from 92 centres within the Owerri zone, which covers the five states of the South East.
Prof. Oloyede attributed the disruptions to what he described as “sabotage” and accepted full responsibility for the incident.
“I apologise. I take full responsibility,” he said. “The affected candidates will begin receiving text messages from the Board regarding their rescheduled examination dates starting tomorrow.”
Out of the 1.9 million candidates who sat for the UTME this year, over 1.5 million reportedly scored below 200 out of a maximum of 400, sparking renewed concerns about the standard of education in the country.
