The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has addressed public concerns surrounding the recent arrest of Martins Vincent Otse,(VeryDarkMan) clarifying that the action was based on multiple serious allegations of financial malfeasance raised against him through formal petitions.

According to the Commission, Otse failed to respond to several invitations delivered to his known addresses and communication channels, prompting the agency to lawfully secure his arrest. The EFCC stated that the petitions involved grave financial crimes that could not be overlooked.

While acknowledging Otse’s recent public attacks on the Commission, the EFCC clarified that such remarks did not influence his arrest. The agency emphasized that matters related to those attacks would be handled by the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

The Commission further stated that a valid Remand Order was obtained and that Otse has been offered administrative bail. He is expected to be released upon fulfilling all bail conditions.

Appreciating the strong public interest in its operations, the EFCC called on Nigerians to refrain from casting aspersions on its motives, asserting that its mandate is carried out without fear or favour. The Commission assured that once its investigation is concluded, charges will be formally filed against Otse as necessary.
