Portable Walks Free After Conviction: Three-Month Jail Term Swapped For N30,000 Fine

Controversial street-hop sensation, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again found himself at the center of legal drama — this time with a conviction to his name.
A Magistrate Court in Ifo, Ogun State, on Tuesday found the singer guilty of assaulting a police officer, violently resisting arrest, and obstructing law enforcement duties. The charges stemmed from a March 2023 incident at Odogwu Bar, Oke-Osa, where Portable allegedly attacked Inspector Hammed Moshood, leaving the officer with a nose injury.
According to court documents, Portable’s actions violated both the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Ogun State, 2017, and the Criminal Code Law of Ogun State, 2006.
Despite having earlier been granted bail, the singer jumped it — leading to his re-arrest last week and detention at the Ilaro Correctional Centre.
On Tuesday, the court handed down a three-month prison sentence across all charges. However, in a twist befitting the controversial artist, the sentence came with an option of a N30,000 fine — which he promptly paid, securing his immediate release.
Ogun State Correctional Service spokesperson, Owolola Odukoya, confirmed Portable’s detention and subsequent release.
As always, the self-styled “Wahala Musician” remains unfazed, walking free once more — with his street cred intact and the law trailing just behind.
