JAMB Dares Critics: Offers Cash Reward for Proof of Exam Misplacement

The.joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has in a bold move to dispel persistent falsehoods, issued a public challenge, offering a financial reward to anyone who can provide credible evidence of a candidate being posted outside their chosen examination town.

According to a statement released by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, candidates are always assigned to centers within the towns they select during registration. JAMB emphasized that the recurring narrative suggesting otherwise is a deliberate attempt by some candidates, secondary school proprietors, and even some parents to discredit the Board and cover up their own misdeeds.

To ensure transparency, JAMB has directed that any proof of such misplacement must be submitted within 96 hours to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) via WhatsApp at 08056003030. The independent body will verify claims and facilitate the promised reward, or, in the absence of proof, publicly clear JAMB’s name.

Drawing a comparison to airline procedures, JAMB defended its policy requiring candidates to arrive 90 minutes before the exam for necessary pre-verification, warning against unrealistic expectations and ignorance of essential examination logistics.

In a lighter moment, the Board recounted a bizarre incident where a female UTME candidate, under her grandfather’s instruction, refused to answer any exam questions, waiting instead for “miraculous intervention” — a reminder, JAMB said, that success comes through hard work, not superstition.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency, and the public good, urging Nigerians to trust public institutions and to reject misinformation.
