Tragedy Strikes Nollywood: Two Film Crew Members Die After Drinking Suspected Poison on Set in Imo

A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken the Nigerian film industry, as two promising Nollywood talents lost their lives on Saturday after allegedly consuming a poisonous drink during a movie shoot in Owerri, Imo State.

The victims, identified as Evans, an up-and-coming actor, and Nnunu, a Director of Photography, reportedly died after drinking Calypso beverages offered by the movie producer as a gesture of appreciation for their work on set.

Sources revealed that shortly after consuming the drinks, the two began to show severe symptoms, including intense vomiting and abdominal pain. Immediate attempts to administer first aid proved unsuccessful, prompting an urgent rush to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owerri. Sadly, upon arrival, both men were confirmed dead by attending medical personnel.

Two additional crew members who also drank the beverage are currently hospitalized and receiving oxygen support, fighting for their lives.

The Imo State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, with an autopsy scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have also taken steps to secure evidence and question key individuals present at the scene.

The shocking incident has left the Nollywood community in mourning, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and fans alike, calling for a thorough probe and justice for the deceased.

As the investigation unfolds, the industry grapples with the loss of two creative minds whose lives were tragically cut short in the line of their passion.
