Fugitive Murder Suspect ‘Killaboi’ Extradited from Qatar to Nigeria After Global Manhunt

In a major breakthrough in international criminal justice, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, widely known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria. The high-profile murder suspect was returned to the country in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, following months of coordinated efforts with INTERPOL, the Ministry of Justice, and Qatari judicial authorities.

Killaboi had been on the run for the brutal murder of 21-year-old Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, whom he allegedly killed on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos.

Following a petition by the victim’s family in September 2024, INTERPOL NCB Abuja launched an international investigation. The suspect was declared wanted by the NPF in October 2023, and a Red Notice was issued for his apprehension. Though initially arrested in Sierra Leone under a false identity, he escaped during a prison break in November 2023 and continued evading authorities across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East.

He resurfaced in Doha in January 2025 under the alias “Toure Abdoulaye,” using a forged Guinean passport. With the aid of advanced biometrics and international intelligence-sharing, INTERPOL confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025.

The extradition was finalized after approval by Qatari judicial authorities, following a formal request from the Federal Ministry of Justice.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, praised the international collaboration that led to Killaboi’s capture and return, and assured the public of the NPF’s unwavering commitment to justice.

“The suspect will face the full weight of the law,” the IGP affirmed, commending the roles played by INTERPOL, the Qatari government, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar.

The case is set to proceed with full prosecution in Nigeria.
