Delta Police Arrest Young Lovers For Faking Kidnap To Extort N2m From Family

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a young couple, Princess and Prince, for staging a fake kidnapping to extort N2 million from the girl’s family.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the incident occurred on December 30, 2024. Princess visited her boyfriend’s house and instructed him to call her parents, falsely claiming she had been kidnapped. Prince demanded a ransom of N2 million for her “release.”
The police were alerted by the girl’s mother, who reported the alleged kidnapping.
After investigating, the police discovered the scam and arrested the couple.
Edafe stated, “The two suspects are dating. The girl went to her boyfriend’s house and told him to call her parents and tell them she had been kidnapped. He did and demanded N2 million ransom. The mum reported to the command, and we did our job. The mum got the shock of her life.”
