Policy Formulation And Policy Criticism; The Driver Should Always Be Patriotism

Governance is a delegated responsibility. Those in power are not running or supposed to be running the affairs of government for themselves. They run it and should always run it for the citizens who voted them in.
Government policies are made by those we voted for who are now in power. Those we often commend or condemn depending on the application, perception or efficiency of the policies they are executing.
If policy formulation is based on patriotism, it shouldn’t be too difficult to put through. If the execution is not working, the criticism of the policies by the citizens cannot and should not be seen as a crime. However, if the criticism is based on sincerity and common goal drive, the critic should be able to know when to blame and when to praise.
Opposition to everything for the sake of anything is not a good way to advance good governance. Activism is not a business for financial gain, radicalism should not be a perpetual means of livelihood.
If the wrong action of the government is corrected or modified to get better outcome, such improved or improving outcomes cannot and should not be ignored. There should be a thick line between sentiment and sincerity. Everything is not politics. Politics should not replace patriotism. When the right thing is done, let the song of praise take the floor.
Opposition to a government policy should not be a deposition drive. We should learn to critique without hatred. Hatred can make a good cause become a personal curse.
Yesterday might not have been fine enough, today is giving assurance of a better coming tomorrow. Dogmatism is antithetical to national progress, no one should borrow a leaf from the tree if sycophancy to make it all is well song-praising.
It is worthy of note to mention that the recent steps of this administration in the last few weeks are showing the green light of a bounty harvest of progression in the making. This is what we should all be hoping for. The change of weather however should not push anyone to pour away the water in the reservoir. Let us continue to work towards an enduring national prosperity.
Give it to him, that maiden presidential media chat was a truly renewed hope display. The pilot seems to have gotten his GPS for proper navigation. It was a reignition of a rusted kickstarter, it is looking like the gas pedal is beginning to accelerate towards the right path. Peace onto the rise of a new dawn.
Let’s everyone continue to hope in a fulfilling turn around. It doesn’t necessarily mean that our lips would be gagged against speaking up on other things that may not be done the right way in the future. Criticism is critical to responsible thinking. Sadism is not.
Those who speak up against the seemingly not working policies are not less patriotic or disloyal, on the contrary, their yearnings for a better policy framework could not have allowed them mute in sycophancy.
In the same vein, those who speak to be heard for a supposed good governance should not roar to a flesh bite or bone breaking on the institution. In policy criticism, there should not be irreconcilable stance. Adjustment should always be made to our wish, expectation and disposition.
On the final analysis, when we all work for the common goal of national development, we should not do it with any such bias of sentiment to be fair to one and unfair to another. What is right does not need too much packaging or defence. We all have the eyes to see the best image and the heart to feel the right atmosphere. In all that we do, let patriotism be the driving force. Only with that do we have a nation of our dreams.
May Nigeria continue to prosper, Amin.
GOD IS HERE.
