Condolences pour in over Shaikh Rashid’s death

At Zabeel Palace, Shaikh Mohammad accepts condolences over Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad’s death.

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday began accepting condolences over the death of his son, the late Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, at Zabeel Palace in Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad, accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, is accepting condolences from mourners until Monday.

Shaikh Mohammad has so far received condolences from Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Zabeel Palace.

The meeting, which was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Shaikh Mohammad also received condolences from Tammam Saeb Salam, Prime Minister of Lebanon. During the meeting, which was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad, the Lebanese prime minister expressed his grief for the great loss, praying to Allah Almighty to bless the soul of the deceased with mercy and bestow patience and solace on the Al Maktoum family.

Condolences will be received from 10am to Dhuhir prayers and after Asr prayers to Maghrib prayers, according to the Dubai Media Office.

Shaikh Rashid laid to rest

On Saturday, Shaikh Mohammad led worshippers in performing Maghreb and funeral prayers over the body of Shaikh Rashid at Zabeel Mosque. Shaikh Rashid was laid to rest at Umm Hurair cemetery.

Also performing prayers alongside Shaikh Mohammad were His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah, Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman, Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi of Fujairah, and Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla of Umm Al Quwain.

Also offering prayers were Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler and Minister of Finance, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The crown princes and deputy rulers included Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.

Other shaikhs and senior officials included Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and other shaikhs, senior officials and dignitaries.

Shaikha Hind to accept condolences

Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will accept condolences from women on the death of her son, Shaikh Rashid, on Sunday and Monday at Zabeel Palace. The mourning will be after Asr prayers until 9pm.
