Police Denies Shooting Broda Shaggi On Set
The Ogun State Police Command has said it is yet to confirm the incident where popular comedian and skit maker, Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, was allegedly shot during a production session.
However, it said in a statement by its Spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, that they have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Babaseyi said: “For the sake of clarity, the Command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggi was shot anywhere within Ogun State. Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced.
“Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course.”
It had earlier been reported that the incident allegedly occurred on Sunday afternoon while Broda Shaggi was filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ota of Ogun state.
While the exact details of how the shooting happened remain unclear, reports indicated he was with his crew members when he sustained the injury.
It was learnt that Broda Shaggi was immediately rushed by his crew members to the Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where he received initial treatment.Medical personnel at the hospital reportedly administered first aid upon his arrival.
He was later referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area, Ikeja, where he is currently recuperating.When contacted, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the command was alerted by the hospital where he was treated.
She noted that although the shooting happened outside their jurisdiction, they have initiated an investigation into the matter.Adebisi said: “The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility.
“Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy.“He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. “The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing.”
Details regarding who fired the shot or whether it involved live ammunition on a film set remain under investigation.
