Omisore Camp Denies Reviving Court Case Against APC, Says Suit Was Withdrawn After Tinubu’s Intervention

The political camp of former Osun State Deputy Governor, Iyiola Omisore, has dismissed reports suggesting that a court case filed against the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still active, insisting that the suit had long been discontinued.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of the Rescue Mission Team, Hon. Israel Ajibola Famurewa, the group said recent reports circulating about the case—filed at the Federal High Court—did not originate from them and should be disregarded.
The suit, marked FHC/OS/CS/261/2025, was initially instituted by Omisore following the disqualification of seven out of eight aspirants during the party’s screening process. According to the statement, the legal action was meant to challenge what the group believed to be a violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
However, the camp explained that the matter was later dropped after interventions from key party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former interim national chairman of the APC, Bisi Akande.
Famurewa said the intervention led Omisore to publicly declare his support for the party’s decision during an appearance on national television, where he pledged loyalty to the president and the party’s leadership.
“As a result of that intervention and Senator Omisore’s commitment to party unity, the suit was discontinued,” the statement said, adding that no party had been served with any court processes regarding the matter.
The Rescue Mission Team also accused unnamed individuals of spreading misinformation about the case, describing them as “jobbers and sycophants” attempting to create unnecessary tension within the party.
The group urged members of the APC and the general public to ignore the circulating claims and focus on strengthening unity within the party ahead of upcoming elections.
“We urge our party members and the general public to disregard the purported suit and the misleading statements being circulated,” the statement added, while expressing hope for greater cohesion within the ruling party.
