Tourism Boss, Badaki, Praises Eko Hotels Over Adherence To Best Practices, Safety Guidelines

The President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), the organised private sector in the tourism industry, Dr. Aliyu Badaki has praised Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos citing best practices and the ability of the hotel to support Nigeria tourism.
The Abuja-based tourism operator said he enjoyed his stay at Eko Hotels while in Lagos during the recent Akwaaba African Travel Market, a tourism exhibition which attracted delegates and visitors even from far-flung places to Nigeria.
Badaki said it was heartwarming that Eko Hotels is adding amenities despite the bad economic situation in the country.

He said: “Eko Hotels’ adherence to safety guidelines is encouraging. Eko Hotels staff mannerisms are topnotch. I love the cleanliness of their room.”
He added that it was a pleasant surprise that Eko Hotels is doing something new everyday when some operators are cutting back service due to the tough operating environment.
Meanwhile, the FTAN leaders visited Sheraton Lagos, Marriott Hotel, Radisson Blu on Victoria Island among other Lagos hotels in a bid to promote partnership in tourism industry growth while seeking their involvement in the Federation’s upcoming programme, the Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition (NTIFE).
Badaki said the visit is the first phase as FTAN plans to visit other hotels and hospitality and leisure facilities and organisations across the country soon.
The President of FTAN which is the umbrella association of hotels, restaurants, tour operators, cruise operators, travel agents to mention a few tourism-reliant organisations in the country harped on the need for training and retraining for hotel staff and other personnel in the service industry.
On why the FTAN Governing Council chose Eko Hotels as the venue of their meeting, first time the meeting wasn’t held in the nation’s capital Abuja. Badaki said they were excited to host their recent Governing Council Meeting at Eko Hotels and Suites which prides itself as a home to all.
He explained that leading figures in the hotel and tour operation business made the decision to hold their meeting at Eko Hotels so they didn’t just participate at Akwaaba African Travel Market and left.
“The governing council meeting coincided with Akwaaba exhibition,” he said.
In September 2025 tourism stakeholders were at Eko Hotels, Lagos venue of Akwaaba International Travel Market, a leading tourism exhibition in West Africa, organised by one of the FTAN leaders.
The leaders from across the country representing hotels, tour operators, travel agents as well as cruise operators and other segments of the tourism industry had stormed Eko Hotels to talk serious tourism and showcase their unique tourism offerings and lifestyle.
The FTAN boss further explained that they were very happy the 21st edition of Akwaaba went well and that the tourism industry operators from the West African sub-region who participated at the travel Expo also had the chance to experience the much-talked about ‘Eko Experience’ during the ‘Tourism Month’ celebrated by tourism-friendly countries around the world.
“Coincidentally, the tourism industry in the West African su-bregion and beyond had one or two things to do in Lagos, Nigeria,” he noted.
One tour operator from Benin Republic, Mrs. Helen Robbin of Jessika Travel, said she and her colleagues from Cotonou simply enjoyed the Lagos upscale hotel scene.
“Eko Hotels is one of the magical places in Lagos, Nigeria. I always stay at Eko Hotels any time I’m visiting Nigeria. Even our clients in Benin (Republic of Benin) who want to come to Nigeria for conferences and business only want us to make reservations for them at Lagos Eko. Eko Hotels is one of the best hotels in Africa,” she said.
