The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has called on state governments across the country to take advantage of the developmental programmes spearheaded by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Obasa made the call on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents after a courtesy visit to the First Lady at the Presidential Villa.

He urged subnational governments to support and align with the initiative in order to expand its impact on vulnerable groups, particularly women and youths.

“State governments must seize the momentum created by the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative to drive lasting and sustainable development for our people,” the Speaker said.

Obasa noted that the programmes championed by Senator Tinubu were already yielding tangible results in key sectors, including education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

According to him, stronger collaboration between the initiative and state governments would further broaden the reach of the interventions and enhance their impact at the grassroots level.

The Speaker commended the First Lady’s vision and commitment, describing her efforts as timely and transformative, especially for disadvantaged communities.

He also explained that his visit was partly to discuss developmental issues and to extend goodwill to the First Lady during the overlapping observances of Ramadan and Lent.

Obasa emphasised the importance of unity, shared values, and mutual respect during the season of reflection and sacrifice.

The Renewed Hope Initiative, launched by Senator Tinubu, has attracted commendation from stakeholders for addressing the everyday challenges faced by women and youths through vocational training, financial support programmes, health interventions, and educational opportunities.
