Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United Mexican States, Reno Omokri, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the announcement of his diplomatic posting, describing the Nigerian leader as a compassionate and forgiving statesman.

In a statement shared on his X handle shortly after the release of ambassadorial postings, Omokri thanked Tinubu, who serves as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for the confidence reposed in him.

He described the President as “a man with a heart of gold” and “a most Christlike individual with the capacity to forgive and forbear,” adding that Nigeria could not have had a better leader at the present time.

Omokri said he accepted the appointment “to the glory of God and for the betterment of Nigeria,” while pledging his “unalloyed loyalty” to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to President Tinubu as Head of State and custodian of the nation’s laws.

The ambassador-designate also paid tribute to those who shaped his life, particularly his foster parents, Esijolomi and Omerewumi, whom he credited with moulding him into the man he has become. According to him, aside from God, no other individuals had contributed more to his personal development.

He also remembered his late biological parents, Bemigho and Ochuko, expressing enduring love and gratitude to them even in death.
Omokri further acknowledged the support of his wife, Hana, whom he described as a source of peace, encouragement and nurture throughout their relationship.

The new envoy reserved special praise for Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as “a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

Omokri credited Ribadu with playing a significant role in his earlier appointment as a presidential spokesman, saying the former anti-corruption chief embodies virtues that transcend religion, region and ethnicity.

“It is most fitting,” Omokri noted, that his diplomatic posting coincides with his planned six-day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, where he intends to hoist Nigeria’s flag at the summit.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s trajectory under Tinubu’s administration, Omokri pointed to economic indicators released by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund showing Nigeria as the sixth-largest contributor to global GDP growth in 2025, despite accounting for only about two percent of the world’s population.

He also highlighted the country’s hosting of “Detty December” festivities in 2025, which he said attracted about 1.2 million tourists without any major security incidents—an indication, he argued, of Nigeria’s growing appeal as a safe destination for tourism and investment.

Omokri concluded by reaffirming his commitment to serve the country faithfully in his new diplomatic role.
“I devote my life again and afresh to Nigeria to be faithful, loyal and honest, and to serve and market Nigeria to the best of my ability,” he said.
