Aproko Foundation Targets Vulnerable Nigerians For Life-Saving Care

By Kemi Akintokun
Dr Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, has inaugurated the Aproko Doctor Foundation (ADF), a Nigerian nonprofit organisation aimed at supporting the health needs of vulnerable citizens.
Egemba in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday said ADF aimed to contribute to averting health poverty by delivering preventive health services.
He said the NGO would also provide life-saving treatment to vulnerable and underinsured Nigerians.
“In Nigeria, the gap isn’t just between sickness and health, it’s between diagnosis and action, millions of Nigerians know what ails them but cannot access care.
“ADF exists to close that gap by ensuring that a medical diagnosis does not become a death sentence simply because treatment is unaffordable,” he said.
He added that what began as a call for Nigerians to pool small contributions has grown into a movement that proved collective action can close the gap between diagnosis and survival for some underserved communities.
Egbemba noted that with over five years of continuous operation, the initiative has funded more than 40 documented medical interventions.
He added that it also screened thousands of Nigerians through community health outreaches, installed solar power systems at two hospitals, MHC Gbaja and Epe General Hospital.
Others include annual screenings for cervical cancer, breast cancer, malaria, hepatitis, and HIV across Lagos.
He added that this year, the ADF expanded its cervical screening programme to Abuja for the first time, bringing preventive care to women in Nigeria’s capital.
Egemba appealed to the public to support the foundation through their contribution. (NAN)
