President Bola Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent who played pivotal roles in the Seattle Seahawks’ emphatic victory at Super Bowl 60, held on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The Seattle Seahawks delivered a commanding performance, defeating the New England Patriots 29–13 to clinch their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
Among the standout contributors of Nigerian heritage in the Seahawks’ title-winning squad were Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, the quarterback; Nick Emmanwori, a defensive standout; Uchenna Nwosu, a seasoned linebacker; Boye Maye, a formidable linebacker; and Olu Oluwatimi, the irrepressible offensive lineman whose consistency anchored the team’s offense.
President Tinubu also extended his congratulations to Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, describing him as one of the most dominant offensive linemen in the game and commending his professionalism and excellence despite being on the losing side.
The President praised all the players for the pride and honour they have brought to their country of descent, with special commendation for Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye, who proudly raised Nigeria’s flag in celebration after the Seahawks’ Super Bowl triumph.
According to President Tinubu, their achievements reaffirm Nigerians’ global reputation for excellence, resilience, and extraordinary talent across all fields of human endeavour, including the highest levels of international sports.
The President wished the players continued success, greater accomplishments, and many more victories in their professional careers.
