We’re Not Certain Gen. Musa Uba Is Dead — He’s Missing In Action, Says Defence Minister

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has said the Nigerian military is not certain that Brigadier General Musa Uba, who was abducted by ISWAP insurgents, is dead.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, General Musa explained that Uba remains officially classified as missing in action because his body has not been recovered.
According to the Defence Minister, ISWAP fighters typically leave behind the bodies of victims they kill, making the absence of a corpse significant.
“We are not sure that he is dead because we have not seen any corpse yet. Normally, when they (ISWAP) shoot, they leave the body for you to recover,” Musa said.
He added that there are reports suggesting General Uba may still be alive, stressing that the military remains hopeful and is continuing efforts to secure his safe recovery.
“So he is classified as missing in action, not killed in action yet. We have heard rumours that he is still alive, and we are hopeful that he is still alive,” he stated.
