BENUE BLOODSHED: FG TO ARRAIGN SUSPECTS IN YELWATA KILLINGS, VOWS NO MERCY FOR PERPETRATORS

The Federal Government has announced that suspects arrested in connection with the gruesome killings in Yelwata, a community in Benue State, will be arraigned in court on Monday, February 2, 2026.
According to the government, the suspects, who have been strongly linked to the deadly attack, will appear before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to answer charges related to the killings.
The planned arraignment follows what authorities described as a painstaking investigation carried out through close collaboration among relevant security and law-enforcement agencies.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, the Federal Government assured Nigerians that justice would be pursued without fear or favour in the matter.
The statement emphasized that the prosecution is aimed at sending a strong and unequivocal message to enemies of the country, regardless of the guise under which they operate, that acts of violence will not go unpunished.
Reaffirming the stance of the administration, the Office of the AGF stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property of all Nigerians, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Federal Government reiterated that those responsible for the Benue killings will be made to face the full weight of the law.
