Abba Kabir Yusuf Returns To APC As Ganduje, Barau Rally Support In Kano

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major political realignment in the state as key party leaders closed ranks to support his leadership.
Former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, jointly pledged their backing for Governor Yusuf in what they described as the collective interest and long-term success of the party in Kano State.
The consensus, reached by party stakeholders, is anchored on the provisions of the APC constitution, which recognise a sitting governor as the leader of the party at the state level. In line with this position, Governor Yusuf has now been formally acknowledged as the APC leader in Kano State.
Party leaders said the decision reflects a renewed commitment to unity, internal democracy, and constitutional order within the APC, especially in the wake of recent political realignments in the state.
They stressed that rallying behind the governor would strengthen the party’s structure, enhance coordination among stakeholders, and position the APC for greater electoral success in future political engagements in Kano State.
Political observers view the development as a strategic move to stabilise the party, reduce internal divisions, and project a united front, with Governor Yusuf now expected to play a central role in driving party affairs and mobilisation efforts across the state.
