The Defence Headquarters has concluded investigations into the disciplinary cases involving sixteen officers arrested over acts of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, has said.

Major General Uba recalled that the Defence Headquarters had issued a press statement in October 2025 announcing the arrest of the officers following allegations of misconduct.

He explained that a comprehensive investigation, conducted in line with established military procedures, has now been concluded, with the report forwarded to the appropriate superior authority in accordance with extant regulations.

According to the Director, the investigation thoroughly examined all circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel and found that a number of the officers have cases to answer, including serious allegations of plotting to overthrow the government—acts inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He disclosed that the affected officers would be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels to face trial under the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations, stressing that the process would ensure accountability while upholding fairness and due process.

Major General Uba emphasised that the measures being taken are purely disciplinary and form part of the Armed Forces’ internal mechanisms to preserve order, discipline, and operational effectiveness within the ranks.

He reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to professionalism, loyalty, and unwavering respect for constitutional authority.
