Kano Bloodbath: Police Arrest Nephew, Two Others Over Savage Murder Of Woman And Six Children

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the horrific killing of a housewife and her six children at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano Municipal Local Government Area, a crime that has sent shockwaves across the state.

The arrests were carried out following a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, through an intelligence-driven operation coordinated by the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori

Confirming the development in a statement on Sunday, the police spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the suspects were apprehended during a late-night sting operation that lasted from 10:00 pm on Saturday to 4:00 am on Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Umar Auwalu, 23; Isyaku Yakubu, popularly known as Chebe, 40; and Yakubu Abdulaziz, also known as Wawo, 21.

According to the police, investigations revealed that Auwalu, a nephew of the deceased woman, was the alleged ring leader of the deadly attack. He reportedly confessed to planning and executing the murder of his aunt and her six children.

In a chilling revelation, the police said Auwalu further admitted that the gang had been involved in previous violent crimes, including the murder and burning of two housewives at Tudun Yola Quarters in Kano.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include four blood-stained clothes, two mobile phones belonging to the victims, a cutlass, a club locally referred to as gora, some cash, and other dangerous weapons.

The Kano State Police Command praised its operatives for their swift response and professionalism while also commending members of the public for their cooperation. The command assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that all those involved will be prosecuted, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining peace and security in the state.
