Nigerian Navy Forward Operation Base, Badagry, Hands Over Seized Rice To Customs Service

In furtherance of the Nigerian Navy’s mandate to support civil authorities in combating smuggling and other cross-border economic crimes, the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) BADAGRY formally handed over a total of 372 bags of foreign parboiled rice to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) following several targeted anti-smuggling operations.
The handing over was done on Tuesday January 13, 2026 in line with Nigerian Navy Standard Operating Procedures.
According to a statement signed by the Navy Captain Busuyi Oyeleye Omotayo, Commanding Officer, Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Badagry, the Base handed over 302 x 50kg bags of foreign parboiled rice to Nigeria Customs Service Seme Area Command and 70 x 50kg bags to the Nigeria Customs Service Western Marine Command for further necessary action.
Navy Captain Omotayo added that since assuming office, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has consistently emphasized a vision of building a professional naval force dedicated to safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests in collaboration with other security agencies.
“In alignment with this vision, the sustained operational efforts of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) Badagry are focused on securing Nigeria’s maritime domain and adjacent land area.
“This is achieved through professionalism and dedication while continuing to build strong ties with host communities, sister services and other security agencies in the fight against transactional crimes and other treats to the nation’s economy,” the statement read.
