The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has endorsed the APC governorship candidate in Osun, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji.

The NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Mr Owolewa Taiwo, announced this on Monday while speaking with journalists.

Taiwo said the endorsement was based on Oyebamiji’s “clean and credible educational background which gives confidence in his capacity to attract competent and qualified people into governance.”

He said, “We believe Oyebamiji will not depend on cronies or sycophants in running the affairs of Osun, but will surround himself with professionals who understand governance.”
According to him, Oyebamiji’s impeccable antecedents and outstanding records of excellence show a leader who understands governance from the people’s perspective.

Taiwo added: “We are launching a youth and students’ movement to mobilise massive support for him because of his consistent commitment to education, youth development and engagement with students.

“Oyebamiji has shown that governance should be inclusive, with benefits reaching students, women, artisans, professionals and civil servants across the state.”
The coordinator also commended the APC candidate’s vision of equitable distribution of resources, saying it would promote unity and development in Osun.

Taiwo further said NANS was confident that Oyebamiji would govern beyond narrow interests, factions or divisions.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for policies supporting education and youth welfare under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Taiwo said: “The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has helped many students to remain in school by easing the financial burden on their families.”

“Programmes like the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and the 3MTT initiative are equipping youths with skills for global competitiveness.

“These policies show that investing in students is investing in the future of Nigeria.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Aug. 8 for the governorship election in Osun, with the incumbent Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Accord seeking a re-election.
