A Governorship Aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State for the 2027 general elections, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, has described the ongoing APC electronic registration and revalidation of party membership as critical to strengthening internal democracy and party cohesion.
JANDOR, who personally participated in the e-registration exercise on Saturday at his Ward G, Irewe town in Ojo Local Government Area of the state, said that the initiative would enhance transparency and provide the party with a credible and verifiable membership database for effective mobilisation and planning.
His spokesperson, Mr Gbenga Ogunleye said in a statement that Dr. Adediran urged all APC members, both old and new, to fully participate in the exercise, noting that a strong and organised party structure is essential for democratic stability.
“Expressing confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, JANDOR stated that the APC is well positioned to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and retain Lagos State, citing the administration’s bold economic reforms, infrastructure development, improved security interventions, and Nigeria’s renewed global standing.
“He noted that Lagos State remains a model of progressive governance due to decades of policy consistency and institutional continuity under the APC.
“JANDOR also emphasised that strong political parties are indispensable to the sustenance of democracy, stressing that governance thrives on institutions rather than personalities.
“He reaffirmed his readiness to serve Lagos State and his commitment to continue promoting inclusive, people-centred, and progressive governance under the APC,” he said.
Speaking earlier to journalists in Irewe after the registration, Jandor stated that the process, especially in a pre-election year, speaks to the seriousness of a political party that wants to plan for a political year and that wants to have a stronghold on the grassroots.
Adediran said that the exercise gives the APC a leverage over other political parties, saying that it enables them to further populate the party and enables the existing members to update their membership.
“APC is the only political party with a semblance of stability in Nigeria and there is no how you want to go into an election without a platform.
“This is welcome and that is why some of us as leaders have taken it upon ourselves, not only to register, but to mobilise others to register. If you don’t believe in it nobody will believe in it. The process is seamless and it can only get better,” he said.
Jandor recalled that he participated in the temporary registration in the party in 2000, but that for the  2023 general elections, he went to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) based on his ambition and to tell everyone that he knows what he is doing, but that his going back to the APC is to show that the party has always been his family.
He stated that the process of returning to the party started last year March, when we declared for the party and that the registration has now solidified it.
On the 2027 governorship election, he said; “When it comes to electioneering process in Lagos State, and when it comes to experience in running an election, I am not a novice.
“All of us who are aspiring to rule the state from the party are qualified, however, at the end of the day, the party would decide.
“But I am the only one that has used my mouth to say that I am interested in running for the office because I believe in myself. If I don’t believe in myself nobody would believe in me. I have not appointed anybody to do it for me.
“As you can see, in this alone, 411 people have registered so far and we started a week ago. So, we expect that a huge number of people would register in this local government.
“We did it in 2023, when we got victory for the party under which we contested. But we had the local government elections last year and we cleared the entire local government for the APC.”
Commenting on the political crisis in Rivers State, where the State House of Assembly has served an impeachment notice on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Jandor said the matter would be resolved by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that both the governor and the majority of the lawmakers are now members of the party.
He explained that he was initially worried during the first impeachment attempt when Governor Fubara was still in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he described as lacking effective leadership.
“When the first impeachment attempt against Governor Fubara came up while he was still in the PDP, I was afraid for him because he belonged to a party where leadership is missing.
“But when I heard about this second impeachment attempt now that he is in the APC, my mind is at rest. Both the governor and the members of the House of Assembly are in the same party, and the APC is a party with a clear leadership structure,” he said.
Jandor expressed confidence that the party leadership would intervene decisively, adding that both Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, would be summoned to resolve the matter.
“I believe the party will intervene, and both the governor and the FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, will be called by the leaders of the party. In the PDP, they never had anyone who could call them to order, which is why the party is going into extinction today.
“The PDP is a party where the so-called number one person in Lagos State went on national television and openly told people not to vote for his own party’s candidate,” he stated.
According to him, such an occurrence would not be tolerated in the APC.
“That will never happen in the APC. I am confident that the leaders will call everyone to order and the issue will be resolved. I am also sure they are already working on it,” he added.
Jandor reiterated that the Rivers State crisis has now become an internal party matter, stressing that once party leaders intervene, the parties involved would comply.
“The Rivers issue is now a family affair. Once the leaders speak, they will listen,” he said.
He also took a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), urging observers to wait until the party conducts its congresses and convention.
“For the ADC, just wait until they hold their congress and convention and you will see what will happen. In Lagos, for instance, the same two factions of the PDP that were always fighting are now in the ADC, and they have continued their rivalry there.
“From the day we entered the PDP, we were busy settling disputes, even after elections. They are still behaving the same way in the ADC,” he said.
