Adeboye Prophesies ‘Reverse Japa’, Economic Recovery, Fewer Wars In 2026

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has released his prophecies for 2026, predicting economic recovery, reduced hunger, and a reversal of the migration trend popularly known as japa.
Delivering the prophecies during the church’s annual crossover service at Redemption City on New Year’s Eve, Adeboye struck a tone of hope for Nigeria and cautious optimism for the global community.
Focusing on the national outlook, the cleric unveiled the first part of a two-part prophecy, noting that he would pray further before releasing the second part later in the week.
According to him, hunger will reduce in 2026, while small and medium-scale enterprises will begin to thrive. He also foretold what he described as a “reverse japa” phenomenon, predicting that many Nigerians who left the country in search of greener pastures would begin to return home.
“Something I can only describe as reverse japa will happen. Many who japa will come back home,” he said.
On global affairs, Adeboye predicted a lower likelihood of a major international conflict in 2026 compared to the previous year, though he cautioned that extreme weather events may still occur.
“The chance of a major war is less this year than last year. As for the weather, the pattern will be similar to 2025, except for the possibility of a couple of major hurricanes,” he stated.
Describing the year ahead, the RCCG leader said 2026 would be more remarkable than 2025, marked by increased opportunities, breakthroughs, successes, and victories, with fewer failures.
He added that many testimonies in the new year would centre on long-awaited blessings finally coming to pass.
“A lot of testimonies this year will begin with, ‘God remembered me at last,’” Adeboye concluded.
The crossover service, which ended in the early hours of January 1, has since sparked widespread debate on social media—particularly over the “reverse japa” prophecy—as Nigerians step into 2026 with a mix of hope, skepticism, and anticipation.
