APC Affirms Oyebamiji As Osun 2026 Governorship Candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji as its governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election, following a consensus decision by party stakeholders and the conduct of the party’s primary.

Oyebamiji, who expressed gratitude to party leaders and members, attributed his emergence to divine guidance and the collective resolve of the APC to reclaim Osun State. He commended his co-aspirants for what he described as their maturity and sportsmanship, noting that their willingness to subordinate personal ambition to party interest had strengthened internal unity.

He said the party was now focused on a common goal of “rescuing Osun State” and called on all stakeholders to close ranks ahead of the governorship election, stressing that unity would be critical to success.

The APC candidate thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and continued support for the progressive family in Osun State, describing the president’s backing as a major boost to the party’s confidence ahead of the poll.

Oyebamiji also praised the National Chairman, National Secretary and members of the party’s National Working Committee for what he described as a transparent and credible primary election process that produced him as the flagbearer.

He acknowledged the roles played by prominent party leaders in Osun, including Chief Bisi Akande, whom he described as a mentor and father figure in the progressive movement, and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, for his leadership and efforts at keeping the party united.

He further appreciated the Igbimo Agba Osun, the party’s elders’ caucus led by Engineer Sola Akinwunmi, as well as party structures at the state, local government, ward and unit levels, for their loyalty and organisational support.

Oyebamiji also lauded members of the AMBO Movement for their mobilisation efforts and commitment, which he said contributed significantly to his emergence as the party’s candidate.

Reaffirming his readiness for the task ahead, Oyebamiji pledged to uphold the progressive ideals of the APC and to work with all stakeholders to reposition Osun State for development, accountability and shared prosperity, expressing confidence that the party would regain the trust and support of the electorate in 2026.
