Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, and the Director General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), Prof. Charles Anosike, have been honoured with the BusinessDay Excellence in Public Service Award, an annual recognition for top-performing public officials.

The award was presented by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, at a ceremony held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at The Blanc Event Hall, Central Business District, Abuja. Idris was represented by the Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Capt. Alex Badeh Jr., who received the plaque on his behalf.

The 7th edition of the award ceremony drew prominent figures from both the public and private sectors, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, represented by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim.

Other recipients included the Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yussuf Tuggar; and NiMET DG, Prof. Charles Anosike, among several other distinguished public sector leaders.

Publisher of BusinessDay, Frank Aigbogun, said the awards celebrate federal ministers, agency heads, and senior public officials who demonstrate exemplary leadership, policy innovation, operational excellence, and effective stakeholder engagement. He noted that honourees are assessed not only on their achievements but also on the processes that produced them, including transparency, sustainability, and coalition-building.

Aigbogun added that despite the country’s economic challenges and the urgency to fulfil President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, many public officials have shown resilience, creativity, and strong commitment to delivering on their mandates.

Festus Keyamo’s recognition reflects his efforts in repositioning Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace sector through policy reforms, strengthened regulatory oversight, enhanced safety measures, and strategic partnerships aimed at transforming the industry.

The statement was issued by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
