Ayegun Oleyo Leaders Debunk Rumoured Bandits’ Invasion

The leadership of Ayegun Oleyo Community has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging an invasion by suspected bandits.
In a statement jointly signed by the Community Chairman, Prof. Saka Jelili, and the Secretary, Mr. Abimbola Ajibola, and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the community clarified that no such incident occurred and urged residents to go about their normal activities without fear.
“The Baale-in-Council, General Executive Committee and residents of Ayegun Oleyo hereby debunk the report of bandits’ arrest in our communities, as portrayed in the viral video and audio recordings. The claims are misinformation and an unwarranted distortion of facts,” the statement read.
Prof. Jelili explained that the arrest of some individuals by personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service in two communities—Ashipa and Paseda—had been misrepresented as bandit activity.
He noted that:
“On the 10th of November 2025, those arrested by the men of the Immigration Service were not bandits and were not found with any weapons, contrary to the claims in the viral clips. They were taken to the Oyo State Command of the Immigration Service at Agodi, Ibadan, and the arrests had nothing to do with banditry.”
The chairman advised members of the public to disregard the misleading video and audio clips and refrain from spreading fake news.
