Osun State Governor, Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has formally resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing the ongoing crisis rocking the party at the national level.

In a letter dated 4th November 2025 and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, Governor Adeleke announced that he was quitting the party with immediate effect.

“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the governor wrote.

Adeleke expressed appreciation to the party for the platform it provided throughout his political career, noting that the PDP gave him opportunities to serve both as a Senator representing Osun West and as Governor of Osun State.

The letter, received and acknowledged by Ward Chairman Saka Kamoludeen Alamu, marks a significant development in Osun State’s political landscape, as Adeleke was one of the party’s most prominent officeholders in the Southwest.

The governor has not yet announced his next political move.
