Former Anambra Governor Willie Obiano Is Alive, Healthy, And Active — Aide Debunks Death Rumour

An aide to former Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano has dismissed widespread rumours, suggesting that the former governor had passed away. The aide described the speculation as “malicious, baseless, and the handiwork of mischief-makers,” insisting that Obiano is alive, healthy, and kicking.

In a statement issued on  Friday, the aide clarified that Chief Obiano has been going about his private engagements and remains in excellent physical condition. He added that those circulating false claims aimed to create unnecessary panic and confusion among supporters and well-meaning citizens of Anambra State.

“Our attention has been drawn to a ridiculous and false report being circulated on social media about the supposed death of His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano. This is completely untrue. The former governor is hale, hearty, and in high spirits. He has been attending meetings, receiving visitors, and engaging in his normal activities,” the aide said.

He urged the public to disregard the rumour and refrain from spreading misinformation that could harm individuals and families. The aide also warned purveyors of fake news to desist from weaponizing social media and reminded them that such actions can have legal consequences.

Supporters of the former governor have also taken to various platforms to celebrate the clarification, expressing relief and reaffirming their goodwill toward him.

Chief Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, has largely maintained a low profile since leaving office but continues to attract public interest.
