“CSO’s STRATEGIST WARNS: U.S. To Stop Using ‘Christian Genocide’ Narrative To Undermine Nigeria’s Rising Economic Independence”

At a time when Nigeria is consolidating her democratic and economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the recent provocative statements credited to U.S. President Donald J. Trump threatening military action over alleged “Christian genocide” in Nigeria are not only false and reckless, but also expose the deep?seated geopolitical agenda of the Western world to reassert control over Africa’s most strategic economy.
This veiled aggression is not about religion. It is about power, resources, and economic dominance.
1. THE HIDDEN WESTERN AGENDA CONTROL, not concern
The Western world, led by the United States, has long viewed Nigeria as the economic heartbeat of Africa rich in natural gas, crude oil, solid minerals, human capital, and an emerging digital economy.
What is unfolding today is a desperate attempt to regain economic leverage being lost due to the Tinubu administration’s assertive economic reforms, particularly Nigeria’s growing partnership with China, the rise of Dangote Refinery, and the push for local currency based trade (the Naira?for?Naira policy) within Africa.
These policies have begun to reduce Western control over Nigeria’s oil and import markets. Dangote Refinery alone has drastically cut the need for imported refined products, a multi?billion?dollar market previously dominated by Western oil companies.
The truth is that President Tinubu’s economic vision threatens global oil brokers, foreign monopolies, and their control of African capital flow. Hence, they are weaponizing religion, human rights rhetoric, and media narratives to justify renewed interference.
2. THE FALSE “CHRISTAIN GENOCIDE” NARRATIVE — A Convenient Cover
By framing Nigeria’s multifaceted security challenges as “Christian genocide,” Western strategists seek to create moral justification for external intervention, economic sanctions, and even military presence in Nigeria, similar to past interventions in Iraq, Libya, and Syria.
This is a dangerous manipulation of faith exploiting global Christian sentiment to mask economic and geopolitical motives.
President Tinubu’s administration has made it clear that Nigeria’s security challenges from banditry to terrorism affect citizens across faiths and regions. The country’s constitution guarantees freedom of religion and equal protection under the law.
It is therefore false, offensive, and irresponsible for any foreign power to claim Nigeria is conducting religious persecution. This narrative is a political instrument, not a humanitarian truth.
3. TRUMP’S THREATS : Economic Frustration Disguised as Moral Outrage
President Trump’s call for “fast, vicious and sweet” U.S. military action is nothing short of bullying diplomacy driven by frustration over Nigeria’s growing independence. The United States has watched, uneasily, as Nigeria’s handshake with China deepens through trade, technology, and infrastructure partnerships.
Dangote Refinery transforms Nigeria into a self?sufficient fuel producer, breaking the West’s petrochemical monopoly; African trade settlements in local currencies (especially through Tinubu’s Naira?centred initiatives) threaten the dollar’s dominance on the continent.
Thus, Trump’s “concern” for Nigerian Christians is a strategic smokescreen, the real target is Tinubu’s economic independence policy, which is reshaping the African market landscape and weakening U.S. economic grip.
4. OPPOSITION ELEMENTS AS LOCAL TOOLS OF DESTABILIZATION
We also observe with disappointment that some opposition figures and their satellite groups, masquerading under the banner of ADC and pseudo civil groups, have eagerly echoed foreign propaganda to discredit the Nigerian government.
These same individuals, who squandered national resources during their time in power, now serve as willing tools for foreign destabilization.
CSO’s Strategists remind them that Nigerians are now wiser. The nation’s destiny will not again be mortgaged to foreign interests hiding behind democracy and human rights slogans. Their record of contribution to governance and nation?building remains zero, they cannot lecture patriotic Nigerians on national integrity.
5. THE WAY FORWARD: Nigeria Must Stand Firm
We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his courage and strategic composure in the face of international provocation. This is the moment for Nigeria to:
– Reassert her sovereign control over internal affairs and natural resources.
– Deepen regional cooperation with African states, China, and the Global South on fair economic terms.
– Strengthen internal security, transparency, and inclusivity showing the world that Nigeria protects all citizens, regardless of faith.
– Resist any attempt to establish foreign military bases or coercive aid conditions disguised as “humanitarian intervention.”
6. A MESSAGE TO WASHINGTON AND WESTERN ALLIES
Nigeria welcomes partnership, but not domination. Constructive diplomacy must be rooted in mutual respect, accurate understanding, and sovereignty. The age of using religion, aid, and debt as tools of neocolonial control is over.
If the United States seeks genuine friendship, it should engage Nigeria as an equal partner, not as a vassal state. Otherwise, the growing alignment of African economies with emerging powers will continue to shift the balance of influence.
CONCLUSION
President Tinubu’s economic policies are working and that success is precisely why external powers are unsettled.
The coalition of civil society organizations under CSO’s Strategist firmly supports the Federal Government’s stand against Western manipulation. Nigeria must remain alert, united, and self?reliant.
The real battle is not about religion, it is about economic sovereignty and the right of Africans to control their own destiny.
Thanks,
Long live Federal Republic Of Nigeria!!
