33-Year-Old Man Set Ablaze By Angry Youths In Ibadan Over Alleged Homosexual Affair
33 years old Iwuagwu Benjamin Chima was nearly burnt to death in Odo Ona Kekere, Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State over an alleged Homosexual affair.
The incident was said to have occurred on November 1 at Pathfinder Hotel and Suites, according to eye witnesses, Iwuagwu Benjamin Chima was attacked by some youths in the community who were informed of his act by one of the hotel attendants name withheld.
Benjamin was said to have lodged at the hotel with his gay partner not knowing that the CCTV camera was recording activities in the hotel.
It was revealed to First Weekly Magazine that the footage was released to the angry youths of the community who bursted into the room to beat and almost set Benjamin ablaze before the intervention of the vigilante group who rescued him .
Benjamin was however, taken to an unknown hospital for treatment which for fear of being further attacked by the youths.
The vigilante group was said to have reported the incident at a Police Station and investigation was said to have commenced immediately.
When contacted , the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Adekunle Osifeso confirmed the alleged attack and that thorough investigation has commenced while concluding that the attackers and the victim will be interrogated accordingly.
” The incident was reported through one of our divisions and investigation has commenced , both parties will be interrogated and charged accordingly “
He however urged members of the public not to take laws into their hands as the police will always be there to unravel any form of evil within the society.
When contacted the management of the hotel refused to comment on the matter claiming that it has been reported to the appropriate authority.
