NDLEA Warns Nightclubs, Fun Seekers Over Drug Parties — Seizes 384kg Of Cannabis in Lagos Raid

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a stern warning to nightclub owners and fun seekers across the country against the rising trend of drug parties, describing the act as a criminal offence under Nigerian law.
The warning follows a major operation by NDLEA operatives in Lagos, who raided a drug party at Proxy Night Club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, on the night of Saturday, October 25, into Sunday, October 26, 2025. The operation led to the arrest of over 100 attendees, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, and his manager, Joachin Millary.
According to the NDLEA, the organizers of the event had “brazenly advertised and circulated flyers inviting fun seekers to a gathering specifically aimed at consuming and distributing illicit substances,” an act the agency described as a deliberate incitement to commit crime.
“Any gathering organized for the purpose of consuming, distributing, or abusing illicit substances is an act of criminality,” the agency said in a statement signed by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy. “These drug parties contravene the explicit provisions of the NDLEA Act and will be treated as serious narcotic offences.”
During the operation, NDLEA operatives seized 384.886 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, along with other illicit substances recovered from the club’s store.
The agency disclosed that the raid was the culmination of weeks of intelligence and surveillance work. Undercover agents had reportedly made pre-purchases of drugs from within the club, monitored activities during the party, and recorded evidence of open drug abuse and sales before swooping in between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Following the arrests, NDLEA said all attendees were profiled, counselled, and released after preliminary screening, in line with best global practices. However, the club owner and manager remain in custody pending prosecution.
The statement further warned that property owners and event centre managers who knowingly permit such illegal gatherings risk losing their assets to government forfeiture.
“The NDLEA will intensify surveillance and apply the full force of the law. In this case, we will also file for the forfeiture of the Proxy Night Club property where the drugs were found,” the agency stated.
The NDLEA appealed to parents, religious and community leaders, and the public to report suspected drug-related activities, emphasizing the collective responsibility to protect Nigeria’s youth and public health from the growing drug menace.
