80-Year-Old Ex-Convict Re-Arrested By NDLEA

Barely three years after he was arrested, prosecuted, and sentenced to two years imprisonment for dealing in illicit drugs, an 80-year-old, Jeremiah Isaiah Nkanta, has again been nabbed by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for returning to the criminal trade.
Notorious for involvement in illicit drug business, the grandfather was first arrested by the NDLEA on December 14, 2022.
Nkanta was prosecuted and sentenced to two years in jail by a Federal High Court in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
And following credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives on January 10, 2025 tracked the octogenarian ex-convict to his Mmanta-Abak village, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, where he was arrested with 5.7kg of skunk, a strain of cannabis in his residence.
