33 Years After, CGS Old Students Reunite, Pledge To Develop Alma Mata

It was time to rekindle old-time memories and bondings Saturday January. 11, 2025 when old students of Community Grammar School, Mokola Ibadan (CGS 92 Glorious Set) gathered at Ibadan Recreation Club to mark their first anniversary after thirty-three (33) years of graduation and present gifts to former teachers from their illustrious alma mater.

The old students came from diaspora to reunite with their Nigerian counterparts to socialize relate great experiences, compare notes and concretize their efforts in further developing their alma mater.

The meritorious awards were presented to the Ibadan North Local Government Chairman, Mr. Oluwaseun Olufade (Onala) via his chief of staff, Mr. Mustapha Handy Adekola, the writer and composer of CGS, Mokola anthem, Yoruba teacher, Pastor Akinbami oluwagbemiga, English teacher, Mrs. Almakhu Bridget, PHE teacher, Mrs. Okewole Olufemi , Maths teacher for Jss, Mr. Akande Adepoju and, Maths teacher for Sss, Mr. Ogunyinka Roland.

The old students appreciated God for the gift of life, and they took time to honour the memories of the deceased ones among them, as well as shared memorable experiences of their days as students.

In his welcome address, the President of CGS 92 Glorious Set, Mr. Ajibola Oyeleke thanked and extended his profound gratitude to the school principal, management and staff for believing in his team and supporting its visions towards the growth and development of the school.
“Let me use this time to succinctly intimate us on this drive. Based on the retrospection ab initio and our individual positions presently, a vision was conceived in giving back to our alma mater. To this end, different objectives were proposed and accepted in accordance to the set- up constitution,” he said.

In his statement, the former Chairman of Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Chief (Dr) Adegoke Olubukola Adeyemo described the CGS 92 Glorious set as helper of destinies as they give back to their alma mater. He promised to be available and supportive to the team all the time.

In her remarks, the Vice President of CGS 92 Glorious set, Mrs. Celestina Folorunso (Nee Ibe ) maintained that unity was key to CGS 92 Glorious set achievement, also gave kudos to Project Committee Chairman, Mr. Darlinton Nwoke and his members.

The highlights of the event were anniversary lectures, Mimicry of noble teachers, presentation of gifts, awards to former teachers, students and principal’s dance.

The Community Grammar School, Mokola Ibadan was founded on September 16, 1983 with the motto: Education For Self Reliance.
