2027: Bamigbetan Officially Declares For Seat In House Of Reps, Distributes UTME Forms To 100 Youths

Kehinde Bamigbetan; a Special Adviser to the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, has formally thrown his hat into the ring to represent Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II in the Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made the declaration on Sunday at De Ark Event Centre before thousands of leaders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) across Isolo and Ejigbo Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

Bamigbetan, a former former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State and two-term chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Bamigbetan described himself as the most prepared and loyal candidate to help APC recover the seat it lost in 2023 to Hon. Okey Joe-Onuakalusi of the Labour Party.

The then incumbent, Hon. Ganiyu Johnson garnered 16,650 votes in the exercise as against Onauakalusi’s 29,386 votes.

Bamigbetan who is coming out for the third time for the seat explained that he stepped down twice in 2019 and 2023, respectively, in the interest of the party as he expressed optimism that his reverence for party supremacy will attract considerable values and consideration as he strives to be the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming primaries.

The former Chief Press Secretary to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his time as Lagos governor boosted about his leadership and mobilization prowess having worked successfully alongside other notable individuals. He promised to make his experience count in the National Assembly.

“As former Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, (2008-2014), I gained firsthand experience in addressing grassroots concerns, the very issues I will champion in Abuja. As Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, (2005-2007) and Commissioner for Information & Strategy,(2018-2019) I honed the skills needed to articulate and defend our party’s programmes effectively. In my earlier job as Special Assistant to Senator Segun Baju, (1992-1993) and current assignment as Special Adviser to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, I understand the workings of the National Assembly and the federal Civil Service. These qualities are essential for advancing Mr. President’s agenda in the House,” Bamigbetan said.

Top in his 10-point agenda qualitative representation on the red chamber with the: “attraction of constituency projects to address challenges of infrastructural decay, business development and social malaise. In collaboration with other representatives from Lagos and other friendly states, ensure the conclusion of the bill for the 57 local governments in Lagos State,” among others.

Below is the agenda in details:
1. 30 per cent monthly remittance of my salary to the party at 10 per cent each to local government, state and federal levels to support party organisation and progress;
2. Quarterly grants to all Community Development Associations in Ejigbo/Isolo Constituency;
3. Grants to co-operatives, traders and artisans associations such as LASCOTA and workers’ s unions, such as NURTW;
4. Support for ethnic and indigenous nationalities;
5. Support for children, students and youths in general;
6. Quarterly Constituency Programme to render Progress Report of my activities at the House of Representatives in the spirit of transparency and accountability;
7. Attraction of Constituency projects to address challenges of infrastructural decay, business development and social malaise;
8. In collaboration with other representatives from Lagos and other friendly states, ensure the conclusion of the bill for the 57 local governments in Lagos State;
9. Introduce new bills to address the problems of Nigerians; and
10. Organize bi-annual entrepreneurship programmes to promote self-employment, business skills and wealth creation.

“My decades of direct engagement within Oshodi-Isolo II have given me an unparalleled network and understanding of the electorate. I am not only prepared for office, but first and foremost to win the general elections, and decisively too. I have the grassroots structure and personal goodwill to secure this seat for our party against any opposition, ensuring our collective success in the general elections,” he added.

The historical event also featured presentation of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to 100 admission seekers across the constituency.
