A lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly from Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1, Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through which he was elected into the House, has come to serve and save the people.

Addressing scores of residents and politicians during the commissioning of his constituency office situated at House 5, 204 Road in Festac Town, Lagos on Saturday 15th August, Hon. Olorunrinu said that 2015 marked a turn around in Amuwo Odofin and that the constituency office belongs to the people.

“I did this to let the people of my constituency know that they have a place, where they can express their minds. We are not here to hide. We want to see how we can move our people to the next level,” he said.

He stated further that this is his own way of starting and that everybody has his approach to governace, but that one thing he believed was that the people deserves the best, and that he would ensure that they experience accessibility to governance.

Also speaking at the event, a member of the Federal House of Representatives from Amuwo Odofin Oghene Egoh, commended Hon. Dipo for the project and described him as a lawmaker with passion for the people.

“Hon. Dipo has so much energy and he works so hard. People should come and see him anytime they have any problem, he would surely attend to them. I am passionate about the PDP and we will continue to remain in the party. It is the only party that allows primary elections.

“We are representing you very well in Abuja and I recently moved a motion on Festac Town and Amuwo Odofin on the floor of the House,” he said.

Hon. Oghene promised to talk to the minister of works on some urgent matters that are affecting the area, when ministers are eventually appointed by the Federal Government, and promised to do his best for the people, who he said trusted him with their votes.

He revealed that he did not belong to any faction in the House of Reps as he said that he desires a united House.

Commenting on the probe of past and current public officials by President Muhammadu Buhari, Hon. Oghene said that the president is doing very well on this, but that the way they he is going about it is wrong.

He said; “They said they want to probe the government of former president Goodluck Jonathan alone. If they want to fight corruption, they should fight it generally. It is not only members of the PDP that are corrupt. Almost half of the people in the APC are from the PDP. Five months to the elections, about five governors from the PDP joined the APC.
“Why are they now concentrating on members of the PDP and left members of the APC. With the way things are going, people would want to join the ruling party since they know that no one would probe them.”

He cited the case of former governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, who was alleged to have looted the treasury state by the incumbent Governor of the state, Mr. Nyesom Wike.

“I expect the EFCC to have invited him at least and question him on the matter. We are supporting the president on the probe, but let it be all-encompassing,” he said.

The rep member also appealed to Buhari to expedite action on the appointment of ministers as he said that this is delaying the work of the Federal Government.
