Why We Went Solo—Midnight Crew Members

Published

Midnight CrewFor some time now, fans of popular gospel music group, Midnight Crew, have been wondering why members of the group have been pursuing their solo careers. This has left many wondering if all is still well with the group, which ruled the music scene with their hit single, ‘Igwe’, few years ago.

Shortly after their music success, a member of the group, Michael Abdul, started featuring in the songs of other artistes. However, nothing was heard from the two other members of the Midnight Crew, Ojuayo Olamide and Olugbenga Demola, who compared to ‘Tony Tetuila’ of the defunct Remedies music group for their action. Patricia Ohuwaje, who was seen as the leader of the group, later released a single.

First Weekly recently caught up with the four members of the group at an event in Lagos, where they had been invited to perform. Speaking with us separately, the members of Midnight Crew explained why they decided to pursue their solo careers.

According to them, the reason was to allow each member of the group explore their individual talents and potentials. They disclosed that they still come together to perform at occasions just like what happened, where we met them.

It was also gathered that they are still together as a music group, but each person is allowed to pursue his/her personal music careers.

Midnight Crew was formed while members of the group were still students of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.
