‘We have nothing to prove’: Victoria Beckham has spoken out about the rumours dogging her relationship with husband David, claiming that they are a ‘strong couple’

‘Yes, we travel a lot with our respective businesses and charitable commitments, but we always make time for each other as a couple and as a family.

She continued: ‘David and I have nothing to prove. We love each other, look out for each other and are strong as both partners and parents.’

Victoria and David, who have been married for 16 years and have four children together, have recently been the target of much speculation about their relationship, due to their hectic schedules and rarely-crossed paths.

All fine: The 41-year-old fashion designer added that she and her man do have work and charity commitments that often see them in different countries, but that they ‘always make time for each other as a couple’

And her defensive comments come after David, 40, revealed on Instagram that he was missing his family a lot, while away from his wife and kids on yet another work trip.

The handsome retired footballer was in Dubai with pals, after days of being away from his spouse, causing concerns among their fans over their lack of time spent together.

But, he made sure his feelings were known as he shared an outpouring of love, along with a fun snap of himself dressed as Freddie Mercury with best friend Dave Gardner and another companion.

He wrote, seemingly in direct response to the conjecture: ‘#beenawaytoolong .. Long trip London , Nyc , Miami , Nyc , London , Dubai , London … Can’t wait to get home to see my beautiful wife and unbelievable children….’

The star had jetted to Dubai for an Adidas store launch, after having been in London to attend the Pride of Britain Awards.

But, while he was there, Victoria was working hard in the States, heading up the annual ladies luncheon for Fashion 4 Development in New York.

And as David headed out to Dubai, his fashion designer wife was preparing to jet home to the UK from the US, sharing photos from her event on Instagram and writing ‘Goodbye NY!’

The superstar couple are said to have been living increasingly separate lives in recent months, as their careers keep them busy around the world.

When the pair were in the same city together a couple of weeks ago, rumours of a ‘rocky patch’ hit the headlines when David was seen looking angry as he escorted his wife from her Dover Street fashion store in London after its anniversary party.

Concerns were also raised when Victoria recently revealed while in NYC that her famous tattoo for David – running down her nape and down her back – is being removed.

While heavily-inked David continues to add to his body-covering collection of tattoos, mainly with sweet tributes for his family, Victoria is keen to get rid of hers.

The former Spice Girl star’s tattoo reads, ‘Ani l’dodi li va’ani lo haro’eh bashoshanim’ which is said to translate to ‘I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.’

But as she twisted her hair up while at the event, the ink looked more faded than ever.

The couple – parents to Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10 and Harper, four – are reportedly in disagreement about whether the family base should be in LA or London, considering her ties with the British fashion scene and their Stateside family life.

However, an insider reassured The Daily Mail’s Alison Boshoff last month that they’re experiencing what any other couple does.

‘The Beckhams’ marriage has always been gossiped about,’ explained the source. ‘And of course a lot of what is said about them isn’t true.

‘Any marriage takes work and when you’ve been together for as long as David and Victoria have, and you’re living your life under a public microscope, there are always going to be testing times.

‘It’s true that they don’t seem to be very happy at the moment. At the party David appeared stressed and on edge, while Victoria looked to me like she was tipsy.’

‘She is also looking very thin — which is telling as her weight always plummets when she and David are going through a rocky patch.’
