Sudanese authorities have released 27-year-old Mariam Ibrahim who was detained on Tuesday alongside her husband and children as they tried to board a plane in Khartoum after she was released from death row.
Marie Harf, a spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department, quoted by The Independent, U.K., said the Sudanese government had informed American officials that Ms. Ibrahim and her family were “temporarily detained” over issues relating to their travel documents.

U.S. State Department also said that Ms. Ibrahim is now free, safe and secure but didn’t make it clear if she’d left Sudan for the U.S, where she’s expected to seek political asylum, Christian Post said.
Ms. Ibrahim was sentenced in May to hang for renouncing Islam, sparking global outrage.
She was released by an appeal court, Monday, and sent to a secret location for her protection after her family reported receiving threats.
