Omo Atata Hall Of Fame Honours Shola Omotola

As part of the 27th edition of its Annual Cultural Day celebration, Ekinrin Adde Community Development Association, will June 19, 2021, usher Prof. Shola Omotola into its prestigious OMO ATATA HALL OF FAME, as one of the pioneer recipients of the great community’s honour to its citizen.

OMO ATATA HALL OF FAME is a great honour reserved for sons and daughters that have done the community proud in their various fields of endeavor.

J. Shola Omotola (PhD), Professor of Political Science is one of the youngest professors in Nigeria.

He is currently Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), where he has served in different positions as the Dean of Faculty, Director of Research and Development and Head of Department.

He is also a member of the Governing Council of the University. He was, in 2017, a Visiting Professor at the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS), University of Bayreuth, Germany.

He has won many prestigious research grants/fellowships and served (still serving) as Consultant on governance and development issues, to leading international and national organizations: United Nations, African Union, etc.

A well travelled scholar and speaker in key academic and policy circles, Omotola has visited more than 30 countries across the globe, including USA, Germany, Italy, the Netherland, Sweden, Poland, Malta, Israel, Belgium, Luxemburg, India, Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia, Senegal, Ghana, the Gambia and a host of others.

He has been External Examiners in several universities at home and abroad.

He has also been serving, since 2020, as a Visiting Professor (Non-Resident Consultant) in the Department of Democratic Studies of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), National Assembly, Abuja, Nigeria, where he once served as a Resident Consultant in the office of the Director General from 2015-2016.

Omotola is currently serving as the Lead Consultant (West Africa) to the African Union/International IDEA’s project on Sustainable Governance Response to COVID-19 Pandemic in Africa: A Human Security Approach, providing expert opinion on how West African governments should respond to the COVID-19 pandemic from a governance perspective, including a High-Level Dialogue with African Head of States.
Fully home grown in Ekinrin Adde for his primary and secondary education, Omotola was further educated at the Universities of Ibadan and Ilorin for his PhD/MSc and BSc Degrees respectively.

He graduated as the overall best student in the department for both his first and second degrees. He also had a Post-Doctoral fellowship in the Department of International Relations, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
