Nigerian Senate Disowns Man In Viral Kissing Video …Says He’s Not Our Senator

The Nigerian Senate has officially denied allegations linking Senator Sahabi Alhaji Yau, who represents Zamfara North Senatorial District, to a viral video showing a man kissing a woman in an office setting.

The video, which resurfaced on social media earlier this week, depicts a man engaged in an intimate act with an unidentified woman in what some users claimed was an office within the National Assembly complex in Abuja. Social media speculation quickly spread, alleging that the man in the footage was Senator Yau.

However, the Senate, through its spokesperson and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, strongly refuted the claims. In a statement made during a media interview on Tuesday, Adaramodu dismissed the allegations as false and misleading.

“That’s not the image of any current member of the Nigerian Senate,” Adaramodu stated. “In fact, that video has been circulating online for four to five years. I had seen it even before I joined the Senate—back when I was still in the House of Representatives.”

He further discredited the claim by pointing out that the architectural design of the room seen in the video does not match any office within the Senate complex. “There is no office in the Senate with that kind of layout. You can visit the Senate, and I will personally show you several offices. None of them resemble what is shown in that video,” he added.

Adaramodu stressed that no senator currently serving matches the appearance of the individual in the video. “There is no resemblance. That is not the Senate, and that is not one of our senators,” he affirmed.

Additionally, independent checks have revealed that the video is not recent, further casting doubt on the claims tying it to the National Assembly or Senator Yau.

The Senate has urged the public to disregard the misleading narrative and warned against the spread of false information that could damage reputations without evidence.
