New Charges Against Officers In Floyd’s Death Announced

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and AG Keith Ellison give a news conference on the ongoing protests in Minnesota.

Ellison’s office has concluded its preliminary investigation regarding the four former Minneapolis police officers involved with the deadly arrest of Floyd.

According to reports, Ellison is increasing charges against fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin from third-degree murder to second-degree murder, and he plans to charge the three other officers with aiding and abetting murder.

Earlier this week, an independent autopsy determined that Floyd’s death ‘was homicide caused by asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain.’
