Man docked over N10m Visa fraud

The Police in Ondo State has arraigned one Oluokun Akeem before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court defrauding several individuals the sum of N10m under the guise of procuring travelling Visas for them.
Akeem who was arraigned on three count charges pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Adesegun, said Akeem committed the offences in July 2019.
Adeoye stated that Akeem intentionally obtained money from different people under the pretence of helping to secure travelling Visas to different countries like Canada and Australia.
The offences, according to Adeoye, contravened Sections 386 and punishable under sections 139 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol1 Law of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Mayomi Olanipekun, granted the accused person bail to the sum of N10m bail and a surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned to April 27, 2021, for trial.
