Lola Akande Urges Parents To Encourage Wards On Mathematics

A Lagos lawmaker, Hon. Lola Akande representing Ikeja Constituency II, has urged parents, guardians and teachers to encourage their students on the importance of English Language and Mathematics.

Hon. Akande disclosed this when a-day Governor, Master Oluwajuwon Afolarin from Omole Senior Grammar school paid a courtesy visit to her at Alausa.

According to her, English and Mathematics were the basics of educational foundation for every child and they must make the two subjects compulsory.

Hon. Akande noted “I’m excited that the one–day Governor is from a school, Omole Grammar School, in my constituency where I built library for the benefits of students”.

The lawmaker pointed out that she decided to pick up Omole Grammar School when she was the President of Ikeja Peridot Lions Club.

She however reiterated government determination to providing qualitative education as part of government’s policies in the State.

Akande used the occasion to charge students to take their studies serious , describing education as bed rock of the society.

Responding, Master Olajuwon Afolarin commended efforts of the lawmaker for her efforts in improving the quality of education in the State.

“I want to thank Hon. Akande for all she has being doing in education sector in Omole where she built library. I really appreciate her gesture.

He therefore thanked the New Era Foundation for the initiative, promising that he would not let them down.

The occasion was witnessed by the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Wahab Alawiye King, Vice, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu and delegation from Omole Grammar School.
