The incumbent Senator for Kwara Central Ibrahim Oloriegbe has thrown his weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate Mallam Saliu Mustapha as a capable successor in the next senate.

Speaking at a ceremony at his campaign secretariat in Ilorin, Oloriegbe maintained that he never had problems with Mustapha and urged his supporters to vote for him on Saturday.

He said: “Everyone knows that I congratulated Mallam Mustapha almost immediately after he was declared the winner of the primary election but there were issues that happened afterwards that have nothing to do with my brother here.

“Yes, President Muhammadu Buhari met with all the senators who were denied return tickets and like others I expressed my disenchantment.

“But like I have told Mallam Mustapha on the various occasions that we spoke, I have no issues with him.

“Before now,my supporters know that I have always rallied support for our Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu but today I am asking all my supporters to also vote for Saliu Mustapha on Saturday.

“We are party people and we have to stand by what the decision of our great party on the Turaki of Ilorin as the senatorial candidate for Kwara Central.

“Our candidate Asiwaju will need the support of senators like we gave President Buhari to actualize the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the new Electoral Act.

Responding, Mustapha who is also the Turaki of Ilorin thanked Senator Oloriegbe for the show of support.

“It is true that the Senator and myself have been speaking for some time and it is a thing of joy that this is happening today.

“I am promising him and his support group that everyone will reap the benefits of our victory Insha Allah regardless of their tendencies in the party.

“And please note that I won’t hesitate to reach out to Senator Oloriegbe whenever the need arises.

The occasion was witnessed by a large crowd of APC members which erupted in applause when Senator Oloriegbe raised the hand of Mallam Saliu Mustapha to signify the endorsement.
