Kogi West: “We Are One People United by Common Destiny” – Smart Adeyemi

The past few months has been excruciatingly challenging to me as a person, my family and my supporters across Kogi West.
But I have been consoled today by the unwavering love of my people who defied all odds to speak the language of unity that from Kotonkarfe to Oworo and to Egbe and Bunuland, we are one people united by the common destiny of people and possibilities.
I thank the leadership of our party, led by our State Leader, my leader, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello, the 4th Executive Governor of Kogi State for giving all aspirants a level playing ground and the delegates to freely choose a candidate they believe can move Kogi West forward. With this sterling and exceptional leadership, we are sure to avoid the debacle that befell our party after the 2015 National and State Assemblies election.
My victory is your victory. I have had cause to weep after leaving the Senate in 2015 because I believe our Senatorial District should maintain the lane of respectability; set by my predecessors and sustained by my humble self. I believe it is the responsibility of Senators and House of Representative members to use their privileged positions to help the state by projecting the positives and challenges of our dear State in good light.
When I came to join the New Direction Team, it took me a short conversation with our leader, Governor Yahaya Bello to know the depth of his commitment to the development of our dear State. He is cleaning the mess of the past and laying a solid foundation for a prosperous future. All he needs is the support of all. Kogi is rich. Kogi is made up of respectable people. Kogi is moving in the right direction.
Kogi West needs people of integrity and credibility. Kogi West needs a person who will be respected on the floor of the Senate. Kogi West needs a person who will continue the Federal Projects paused since 2015. Kogi West needs a person who is committed to service. I am that person. I am that servant. I will serve your interest.
I am already looking into how I can support the State Government to upscale rice production in Kotonkarfe, Lokoja and Omi Dam. The State Government has done well in this regard to warrant further suppprt by Federal Authorities.
Power distribution is an issue I will take up as your Senator. The Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has done well in power generation. We will seize the opportunity to strengthen our distribution infrastructure to deliver power to our homes.
The Kabba – Ilorin road which I initiated while in the Senate and which was done up to Ayetoro Gbede will be completed if you give me the mandate to represent you again.
The Kogi West election is going to elicit great interest from people around the nation. They are anxiously waiting to see the choice we make. I know we will choose right. I know we can restore our District to the path of prestige and respect.
As your Senator, I will focus on Agriculture, infrastructure, jobs and education. I will cooperate with Federal Authorities to bring dividends of democracy to our people.
To our party men, the battle has just started. We must push this across the line by ensuring APC wins all seats at both the National and State Assemblies. We must also deliver over 90% of our vote to a President that has fought corruption and brought Nigeria back to international reckoning.
The journey ahead will be torturous and tasking. But I have no doubt in our capacity to deliver.
I dedicate this victory to God Almighty and the entire people of Kogi West who I am poised to continue to serve with the whole of my vigor.
And to our leader, Governor Yahaya Bello: I will never let you down sir.
I congratulate my co-aspirants for putting up a spirited fight. It is a win-win for us all as it is time to work together for the greatness of Kogi West and our great party, the All Progressives Congress.
Thanks to everyone who has made this a reality.
Signed:
Senate Smart Adeyemi
APC Senatorial Candidate for Kogi West
