Currently trending on social media is the news of a young abroad-based Nigerian man who committed suicide after a lady accused him of abusing a woman.

The man identified as Izu, had earlier taken to the platform to recount a bad experience with a police officer who racially profiled him and almost had him killed. Shortly after this, he was added to a list of ‘abusers’ curated by a lady identified as Nanichi Anese.

According to her, another lady had accused him of ‘non-physical harassment’. In the next several tweets, Izu tried to find out who the lady was so he could clear his name as he was put in the same list as other men accused of rape.

Izu reportedly took his life after trying unsuccessfully to clear his name of the abuse accusations against him.

Screenshots of DM conversation released by Izu showed that Anese refused to reveal the identity of the lady and simply told him to do better. Anese who claimed she was trying to make her page a ‘safe space for victims’ wasn’t willing to take his name out.

Izu made an attempt to clear his name but his accuser was not cooperative. He later left a note apologizing, though he stated that he doesn’t know what he did or who he hurt that led to him being accused.

He eventually found the lady and shared screenshots of the conversations that led her to accuse him of assault. Apparently, she had wanted a serious relationship with him but the feeling wasn’t mutual.

After trying unsuccessfully to clear his name, it was later reported that he took his own life as he could no longer deal with the ‘trauma’. Following news of his death, Anese took to the platform to express her pain and explained she wanted her to page be a ‘safe space’ for victims and the accused.

Many are not too pleased with the development and are seeking justice for the late Izu.
