The office of famous actor, Hafiz Oyetoro, well known as Saka, went up in flames Thursday last week in his office at the Department of Theatre Arts of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Lagos.

From what we gathered, the whole department was touched by the raging inferno and properties worth several millions of naira destroyed, but no life was lost in the unfortunate incident.

Speaking with First Weekly last Friday over the phone on the incident, the comic actor disclosed that there was no spiritual undertone to the fire outbreak, saying that he was not the only person affected by the sad event.

“No, I don’t believe that it has to do with spiritual attack, I was not the only person affected by the incident. Offices of eight lecturers were burnt by the fire. I don’t think anything should be attached to it,” he said.

When asked if he would easily forget the experience, the MTN ‘I don port’ Ambassador said, “that is life my brother, life is full of challenges. You don’t dwell on bad occurrences. As far as I am concerned, it has happened and there is nothing anybody can do about it. I only pray that God gives me the courage to go ahead and I am willing to go ahead. I thank God no life went with it. My family is intact, the only thing is that I lost some properties to

the fire. I take it as one of the distractions of life.”

Commenting on the cause of the inferno, Saka said, “a committee has just been set up by the management of the school to find out the cause, I am sure before the end of the week, we would know what cause the inferno.”

He also lamented properties and documents lost to the fire. He explained that “documents got burnt, most of the projects of the students I am supervising and works of those who have already finished and all that went with the fire.

“Some of my promotion packages also got burnt, but one can always get those ones back. There are some that can never be retrieved like the research works that got burnt, tapes, laptops with vital information and contents, but I know God is in control,” he concluded, while adding that he expects the best in the coming years even with the fire incident.
